Every year in conjunction with the Grammy® Awards, a concert is held for the MusiCares charity and to honor the achievements of a particular group or artist. The recipient of the 2005 Person of the Year award was the one and only Brian Wilson. Wilson also does humanitarian work with such groups as the Carl Wilson Foundation for cancer research, Adopt-A-Minefield and Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit Concerts. An amazing line-up of artists came together to give their own interpretations of classic Beach Boys songs before the great man himself took the stage for the climax of the evening. They include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose new album “Stadium Arcadium” is nearing 1 million sales, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, Jeff Beck, Barenaked Ladies, Backstreet Boys, John Legend, Earth Wind & Fire and Michael McDonald with the recently passed keyboardist Billy Preston, also known as the “Fifth Beatle”.
