A special note from John Lee’s daughter, Zakiya Hooker: "This is the new album that my father was working on when he passed on to his great reward in Delta Blues Heaven on June 21, 2001. He was very excited about this new album, and he would discuss this project not only with me, as I was co-producing, but with other members of the family and friends, humming, plucking and singing the songs he was choosing from. The album features new songs he had already recorded but not released on his last album, and he was excited about finally getting them out to his fans and the world". This album is Volume 1, and contains some very special guest artist friends who recorded with him on past albums as well as some fabulous new
guests who did incredible work on his recorded tracks after he had passed on.
