Scorpions

The Scorpions are a hard rock band, formed in 1969 in Hanover, Germany. Originally comprised of Rudolph Schenker, Michael Schenker, and Klaus Meine. They released one album in 1972, and toured to support it, before Michael Schenker left and the band broke up. Scorpions soon reformed with a different line-up, and in 1974 released "Fly to the Rainbow". This was the album that cemented the Scorpions' sound, and they went on to release a slew of successful albums, all following the hard, melodic, rock template. As International success beckoned, they went through a series of line-up changes, and became known for their controversial artwork, and in 1988 they become only the second Western group to play in the Soviet Union. Scorpions are still releasing albums, most notably 2004's "Unbreakable", which was hailed by critics as a return to form.
