Bob Dylan is an American folk musician, who has been a major figure in music for over five decades. First rising to prominence in the 60s, where he was heavily involved with the social upheaval of the time, he is celebrated for his incredible songwriting and lyrical prowess. Although mainly associated with folk music, he has embraced a huge diversity of styles including blues, rock, jazz, and even classical music. Not afraid to court controversy, Bob Dylan created a huge storm within the folk world by playing an electric guitar at his infamous Manchester Free Trade Hall gig. Bob Dylan has showed extraordinary longevity and stamina, releasing well over 30 studio albums in his career. He has been touring almost constantly since 1988 on "The Never-ending Tour", and had played over 2200 dates by the end of 2009.
