English singer-songwriter who came to prominence in the mid 1970s. Initially influenced by punk and new-wave Costello has throughout his career shown his eclectic tastes and drawn on many influences. His first major album was 'This Years Model' in 1978 and in In 1979, he released 'Armed Forces' with his band The Attractions and both the album and the single "Oliver's Army" went to number 2 in the UK. He has continued to release studios albums and perform live ever since, experimenting with classical music, jazz and country as well as acting and performing in opera. In 2003 he married Diana Krall. In all he has produced 23 studio albums, either solo or with his band the Attractions and the Imposters as well as collaborating on a further 13 albums.
